Freetown Sound System
An association based on a voluntary membership and work focused on promoting reggae & dub. The Freetown Sound System is hand-built in England with the very special reggae sound in mind. When reggae music originated in Jamaica at the beginning of the 1960s, the producers experimented with the sound – i.a. due to fairly limited financial means to invest in equipment. The most important and lasting outcome of these experiments was a special focus on the bass in the music. Many times recorded while the equipment glowed red and overdriven – but it gave a very special sound! The sound is built precisely for this sound, so even if you have heard Bob Marley on your hi-fi at home, it cannot be compared to how reggae sounds on SOUND SYSTEM Freetown sound system facebook
