On his first real stage show he performed with a band called Chokey Taylor’s band, band leader Chokey Taylor was impressed by Shorty’s lyrics and performance that he encouraged him to continue.

In 1993 Shorty migrated to Denmark, where he joined Sky Juice sound as the main selecta.

Papa Shorty always saw himself as both a recording/performing artist and a selecta, which lead him in 2010 to record a few songs, among those are Miss Right and Jimmy.
